MedHand is a non-governmental organization based at the University of Kurdistan Hawler - School of Medicine (SoM). Initially founded as a medical club in 2021, its primary goal was to bridge educational gaps and provide hands-on training to medical students. Within just two academic years, the club successfully trained over 500 medical students from four universities and organized more than 18 specialized courses. Building on this success, MedHand evolved into a fully recognized NGO in 2023.
Run by medical students and junior doctors, the organization now has over 200 active members from various colleges, including medicine, pharmacy, dentistry, and nursing. Guided by the motto, “Empowering Medical Expertise,” MedHand is committed to training ethical and highly skilled medical professionals. It also provides access to a wide range of resources that many students might not otherwise have, helping them gain the knowledge and practical skills needed to excel in their fields.
MedHand's mission goes beyond education; it fosters a collaborative community where future healthcare professionals can grow, innovate, and contribute to the improvement of medical training standards in the region.
The organization has been actively involved in various workshops, seminars, and hands-on training sessions, emphasizing practical skills and ethical practices in medical education. MedHand continues to build partnerships with other institutions to extend its impact further and enhance the quality of healthcare training in the region.
